So I've been taking this pottery class at callanwolde. and here are my first finished pieces.
This one reminds me of the color of the moon during an eclipse.
These are the pinch pots I started to make my very first week (which was 9 weeks ago). This firing process is called carbon horse hair firing. The pots are fired in a raku kiln until they reach an extremely high temperature. Then once they cool to a low enough temperature (but still super hot to touch), you can freely apply horse hair. Just touching the horse hair to the hot pot causes the hair to burn leaving the carbon marks. Aren't they cool?
love raku! and those are beautiful pieces.
