Yay, we have a salt keeper!
I really love this piece. It was fired in the salt kiln, which gives it that unique texture and appearance on the outside. No glaze was applied whatsoever to the outside, that's just what the salt does to the clay. Cool huh? I did add some black engobe to make the letters pop on the lid.
I should be picking up a few more of my pieces later this week. and I can't wait until I take another class.

single digits
[[image via design crush via ffffound]]
So I've finally made it to the home stretch...only 9 more days to go.I feel like I've got everything under control. I've recently finished our programs. and I'm putting together our favors tonight.
I still need to string buttons onto hemp for the paper garland and possibly make our smilebooth backdrop (which may or may not happen).
And today was the first day I could see the weather for our day...and there is a 60% chance it's going to rain. BOO. Hopefully they'll be some shifting here and there and the predicted weather will be wrong. Please?

share the love
So I saw this in a MS Magazine a long time ago and thought it might be fun to incorporate it into our wedding. We'll be talking to our officient about it tomorrow.
So most of you might be familiar with palmona's nest and her lovely text bowls. Well since I was taking a pottery class, I made my own version of a ring bowl using a small rubber stamp set I purchased from michaels. I'm thinking we'll tie our rings in the bowl and have our guests pass the bowl to share the love.
Now I just need to come up with a cute saying for this part of the wedding and to maybe help explain why I'm doing it. Any help would be appreciated. and I can't decide if I like 'love' better or 'amor'. What do you guys think?
"We tied our wedding rings together with a ribbon and asked our guests to pass our rings among them before the ceremony started, so everyone touched our rings before we put them on." ~ Sadie, married in Tuscany, Italy

Ohmygoodness!
So I just looked at my blog countdown...and it's in the teens! and that just makes it seem that much closer!! In the 20's I still felt like I had time, but now that it's in the teens I feel like all my time is just wasting away. Stop. Yes. and JUST BREATHE...
I've been working on my program and we've come up with a final cover.
We thought it kind of fit in a little better than the former ones. What do ya'll think?

ties
So I'm thinking this tie for T.
Or this one.
Which one do you think? The smaller dots might match my shoes better, but looks busier on the eyes. So maybe the bigger polka dots? and also, if T wore a polka dot tie, should the best man wear the same tie, or a different one? and if the best man wore a different tie, then what color should it be? I was thinking a solid black tie, but T's afraid the blacks might not match.
What do you guys think?

shoes, pair no. 2
Yes, I think I'll be a bride that has two pairs of shoes for her wedding. I just don't think I'll be able to stand heels for that long.
and I'm just adoring the inside of these shoes. I'm having a major love for hearts lately.

guest book
I really wanted to do a Polaroid guest book, but after looking at the costs of film and camera, I thought otherwise.
So instead, I made 4" x 6" flat cards for our guests to write us love notes. Then I can slip them into this kolo photo album for trips down memory lane.

D.O.C.
Should I get a day of coordinator? Our guest count is looking to be around 70-80. My Mom is telling me NO, my fiance doesn't really think we need one, and me, well I just think we need one for my sanity. But then I'm still not sure. So for all those people out there, is it worth it? even with such a small wedding?
So this is my 4th weekend left until the wedding (it makes me sick to just think about it).
This weekend:
*make program covers
*make guest book cards
*go to michaels/joanns
*decide on day of coordinator
*pom pom
*write out time line for wedding day
I'm having a mini freak-out. Is there anything else I should be doing with 4 weeks left?

pottery: first finished pieces
So I've been taking this pottery class at callanwolde. and here are my first finished pieces.
This one reminds me of the color of the moon during an eclipse.
These are the pinch pots I started to make my very first week (which was 9 weeks ago). This firing process is called carbon horse hair firing. The pots are fired in a raku kiln until they reach an extremely high temperature. Then once they cool to a low enough temperature (but still super hot to touch), you can freely apply horse hair. Just touching the horse hair to the hot pot causes the hair to burn leaving the carbon marks. Aren't they cool?

So what do you think? T thinks the doily lace is too much and he thinks we should just use the heart punch. I kind of like the doily lace...but I'm still unsure.
So opinions please?
